An interdenominational group that works with Christian Churches of all denominations to see children won for Christ and nurtured in continuing weekly clubs. These clubs are run in the local churches by the church people themselves.

Helpful Hints For Stories

Visualising Your Stories

Our Children's Clubs depend on the power of the Holy Spirit to bring children under conviction, but the vehicle that the Holy Spirit seems to be using powerfully at this point is Visual Aids.

Children watch so much television, maybe up to 20 hours a week, the spoken word seems inadequate, but linked with visuals children are getting the message, and coming under deep conviction, they come back week after week, really expectant.  Before the use of visual aids, we ourselves saw few children being converted.  But remember, visual aids are only a vehicle for getting across deep spiritual truth.

Caution: If you use them, make sure your children can see them.

  1. Have your visuals set high enough, so that children at the back can see over children at the front.
  2. Have children seated in a 90 degree cone of vision, so they don't get an oblique view.

Flannelgraph

  1. When you colour your flannelgraph stories err on the side of bright colours, so that your visual aids look alive to children.  Colour in before you cut out. This means that you can colour in quickly and go over the lines, then when you cut it out, it still looks good.
  2. Flannelette can be bought very cheaply for making backgrounds for Flannelgraphs.  The simpler the background the more you will find you are able to use them.  The secret for outdoor scenes is to use horizontal layers of felt, and it is amazing the different scenes you can make up.

Flash Cards

  1. Cut out the visual aids as you desire.  Cut some visuals all around with your scissors, but others you leave with plenty of white to give variety.
  2. Turn upside down on newspaper, and spray on adhesive, or use glue.
  3. Then glue on brightly coloured cards, mixing the colours, so that one after another, different coloured cards are shown as the story unfolds, adding variety.  Number the cards in the order in which they are to be shown.
  4. File in an manila folder with the story line.  Sometimes the story can be cut up, and clued to the back of the preceding card to jog your memory.  But it is much better to tell the story entirely from the visuals, making the story real and alive.

Spiral Bound Flashcard Booklets

We also have a large range of brightly coloured flash books, fully ready to be used.

Also available are pre-coloured flannelgraph lessons.
